Happy New Year.
This year, we’re Unsubscribing from goal setting — at least the version of it that’s been handed to us.
Not the kind rooted in clarity, intention, or vision.
But the prescribed list of goals we’re told we should want.
✔️Lose the weight.
✔️Get more organized.
✔️Be more productive.
✔️Be a better leader, partner, parent, employee, human.
Especially for women, goal setting often turns into another quiet performance of perfection — another way to measure ourselves against someone else’s expectations.
So here’s the reframe.
Instead of starting with what you should accomplish, start with reflection:
What do you actually want?
What genuinely works for you?
What would make your life feel more aligned — not more impressive?
There’s still room for ambition. Accomplishment matters.
But it’s only one part of the picture.
We also need to ask:
What would be fun, joyful, or delightful — just because?
What would improve the quality of your life, not just the output?
And what are you ready to stop doing, stop carrying, or let go of?
Traditional goal setting is additive.
But alignment often comes from subtraction.
This isn’t about a “new you.”
You’re already enough.
It’s about making 2026 feel more like it actually belongs to you.
If you want support thinking through the year this way, we’re hosting Setting the Course for 2026 on January 8 — a reflective workshop that looks at accomplishment, joy, and release together.
Everyone’s welcome.
Here’s to a year that’s less about “shoulds” — and more about what truly fits.
Happy New Year.
