Leadership is Fundamentally an Inside Job

WLI

This is the time of year when that energy of new beginnings, goals and, argh, resolutions hit from all sides. From the outside world for sure with the marketing for new everything, but also from inside. We feel the pull towards change. We too, seek renewal, in our lives and in our work. It’s human and it’s worth listening to.

A lot of what we try every January in the “new year, new you” energy ends up not being a good fit. Maybe it doesn’t keep up with the hype, or maybe it never really spoke to you anyway, and you just convinced yourself you should do it because that’s what people do. That can be a more powerful influence than many of us would like to admit.

Here’s the thing, though. You do reach a point when the influence you actually want to learn to listen to is your own. You get to a point where you want to reconnect deeply to who you are, what’s important to you, what you value, the difference you want to make. And if I know anything in this crazy world (currently more crazy than usual) it’s that that matters. Maybe more than anything else. That connection to ourselves, our values, our humanity is the foundation of what makes us good people and good leaders.

So, if you actually do want to transform this year from the inside out, reconnect with your values and all the genuine ups and downs of trying to be a better leader and a better human, then maybe this is the year you join us for a full year of growth, learning, development and transformation. With the coolest, most compassionate, fun, impressive and dedicated group of women leaders around.

Yes, our program has proven results. The women who join us experience accelerated career progression, recognition, improved relationships, team performance, increased clarity, better communication, a more inclusive leadership approach, and much more. But the real change is the one that happens on the inside, because who we are matters as much as what we do.

As we say here at WLI, leadership is fundamentally an inside job.

Consider yourself invited and give me a call if this is the year for you. There’s nothing I’d love more than to be in your corner.

Cheers to a year where we find peace and happiness, but also a year where we find ourselves.
